Dog the Piracy Hunter
Lucky and Flo, two dogs trained by the Motion Picture Association to sniff out pirated discs, have struck again and found a factory producing pirated discs. The raid seized about 18,000 pirated discs.
The two dogs, who are believed to be the world’s first trained optical discs sniffers, have been effected in their new role.
Since March, 26 arrests have been made following raids involving the dogs.
In the last six months, more than 1.6 million discs have been recovered by Malaysian authorities during operations involving the Labradors.
In fact, the dogs were so successful during their first week that a reward to eliminate the dogs was issued.
Authorities say there is now a bounty on offer to anyone who eliminates the dogs, though the amount is not known.
The animals are being kept in a secret location with increased security.
According to our Havocscope Global Index, Malaysia’s counterfeit and piracy market is valued at $384 million.
